Fluid storefronts already speak UCP, the shopping protocol behind the buy button in Google Gemini. This page is the shared reference for how we sell it, support it, and switch it on for clients.
We support a full agentic shopping experience through the UCP protocols.
A shopper can ask an AI assistant for a product, and the agent can find it, add it to a cart and check out on the client's Fluid store.
We stay in compliance with the AP2 payment protocol.
Every agent purchase carries proof the shopper approved that item at that price before any money moves. That protects the client and the shopper.
We don't support agentic shopping outside AP2, but we're watching all of it.
That includes ACP, the protocol ChatGPT uses. We haven't built deeply for it because ChatGPT is slowly rolling it back after low adoption.
Your descriptions are your storefront.
Agents don't see the designed page. They read the product description. Whatever is written there is the pitch the AI repeats to the shopper.
Two assistants worth naming in a pitch. Both are large, growing, and already used for buying.
Clients will hear these acronyms. Here's what each one does in plain language, and where Fluid stands.
| Protocol | In plain words | What it does | Who's behind it | Fluid |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MCPModel Context Protocol | A toolbox for AI | Tells an agent which tools it can use, such as looking up a product or checking an order.Used by almost every AI app. | Industry-wide | Foundation |
| A2AAgent2Agent | How bots talk to each other | Lets one AI helper ask another for help, like a shopper's bot asking a store's bot a question. | Foundation | |
| UCPUniversal Commerce Protocol | The rules for shopping | Every store uses the same steps: find it, put it in the cart, pay, get your order.Powers the buy button in Gemini. | Google & Shopify | Live on every store |
| AP2Agent Payments Protocol | A permission slip for spending | Proves the shopper told their AI it could buy this item, at this price, before any money moves. Plugs into UCP as an optional payment layer. | Supported | |
| ACPAgentic Commerce Protocol | UCP's job, inside ChatGPT | Shopping inside ChatGPT. Not widely adopted, and ChatGPT is slowly rolling it back. | OpenAI & Stripe | Watching |

Answer
Yes, through UCP, which powers the buy button in Google Gemini. Your Fluid store already publishes everything an agent needs. Once you register in Google Merchant Center and add a Google Pay payment account, purchases can happen directly on Google.
Answer
ChatGPT uses a different protocol, ACP, built by OpenAI and Stripe. It hasn't been widely adopted and ChatGPT is slowly rolling it back, so we haven't gone deep on it. We follow AP2-compliant agentic shopping and we're watching every protocol closely.
Answer
That's what AP2 is for. It works like a permission slip: it proves the shopper approved this item at this price before any money moves. Fluid stays in compliance with AP2.
Answer
No. That's the point of Fluid: one store, every channel. The same store you run for web, mobile, social and international already serves AI agents.
Answer
No. Agents read the product description, price and stock. Anything only in theme sections won't be seen. Make sure your descriptions carry your best benefit and search language. Add .md to any product link to see what agents read.
Answer
Fluid's llms.txt and .md pages tell agents to keep the rep path in any link they send a shopper, since that path carries the rep's attribution.
